I'm going to start working as an intern at eyking fitness. But I think I'm going to work a part-time job simultaneously. The reason why I want to work a part-time job is because I want to move to Australia as a working holiday after this program. The other day, this plan just clicked in my head when I was wondering if there are some realistic options that I can use to learn English and live in a warmer city for a few months. Also, thinking about my speed of improvement in English, I don't think I can get to the ideal level where I can use English without stress for business unless I go through with this new plan. What's more, I'm 29. So this is towards the last age that I can apply for a working holiday because you can't apply for a working holiday if you are over 31 because of the agreement between Japan and Australia. I want to try something new by getting out of my comfort zone while keeping practicing hard. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#Englishtalk

I didn't have a working shift at the restaurant yesterday at first, but I suddenly got a job cleaning the restaurant. It was cleaning out the keg's room. Since there are a lot of kegs of beer, from which we serve customers, located in this room, we aren't able to clean it up during business hours. It started from 12 am to 2 am. We put all kegs out and cleaned it up. The floors and walls were quite dirty, so we cleaned them with disinfectant. There is no waterway in the room. That was a lot to handle because we needed to mop and vacuum up the water with a mop and vacuum cleaner. We finished the cleaning safely. It turned out very clean. That kind of work tends to be put off because it's hard to make a large amount of time in daily work. I feel that because each task is clearly separated, there seems to be a tendency for staff to be reluctant to do more work than is their responsibility in this restaurant. Therefore I think it would be an excellent thing to make sufficient time outside business hours for cleaning. The management can request people to participate in such activities if they can. It's also important to make the atmosphere fun when I have difficult work to do. Our boss gave us pizza and beer, so the work was more enjoyable and we did it in a lively and fun atmosphere. There will be only one working day at the restaurant this week. But the new job at the landscaping company will start off in the next week seriously. I want to get in good shape so that I can dedicate myself 100% to that job without summer fatigue. Also, I'm going to make at least three new speeches per week even after starting the new daily routine. I will also go over previous speeches at the weekend. Even if I'm busier than now, I would like to take some time to look back on my English. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk

About my new challenge for the rest of my time in Vancouver
▼スクリプト "Let me talk about my new challenge after September. I'm looking for a new job where I can work from September. There are two reasons why I want to start working in another job. Firstly, This is because the busy season will be over at the restaurant, and it will be difficult to increase the number of shifts any further. So I'd like to work in a new job on weekdays and work at the restaurant at weekends. Secondly, I want to take up something new for the rest of my time in Vancouver. So since I'm going to work, I want to work in another business, not in a restaurant. I'm interested in landscaping industry working as an assistant. The job includes mowing lawns, shaping trees and shrubs, weeding garden beds, and raking and lifting debris into a pick-up truck. I'm adept at working outside in the open air as a member of a team because I used to play soccer. Adding to that, I have the confidence to keep plugging away at tasks even in extreme weather conditions. Also, I used to work at a company for home renovation. The landscape job has the same goal of making customers' lives comfortable. So I think that is a job where I can draw on my experiences and strengths. Actually, I took a phone interview in the morning today. And I'm going to help the owner on Wednesday right away. It seems like I'm going to work as her assistant. I guess there are no opportunities where I will talk with customers so much. But I expect I will get to use more English because I'll be working with my boss for the entire working day. I hope to get exposure to expressions and phrases that I have never used by working in the new industry. I'm going to give it my best shot to get better at my English skills and gain precious experiences in the new work environment. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk

I went to the public swimming pool in Vancouver
▼スクリプト "Let me talk about what I did today. The share house where I'm living has a shower room that hasn't worked since yesterday. The owner has been fixing it. It seems like there is something wrong with a water pipe. So he has been ripping tiles from a wall and tiling new ones. It will take a few more days to be done. In the meantime, the owner allowed us to use the public swimming pool with a hot tub, sauna, and steam room at his expense. I went there immediately. The facility is located 20min away by bus. It was an amazing facility. You can swim in the pool and exercise in the fitness room. Also, you can get rid of your tiredness in a hot tub, sauna, and steam room for 7$. Since I came to Canada, I've never been in a hot tub or sauna. So I felt so refreshed by going to them. In Japan, a spa is one of the common entertainment facilities. So even if your shower room doesn't work in Japan, you wouldn't have difficulty showering. That's because there are hot spring spas everywhere. I think I'm going to go there to chill out regularly. Also, there was a universal changing room, washroom, and private rooms showing consideration of LGBT in the facility. They show more consideration for transgender people in Vancouver than in Japan. Given that diversity, I agree that Vancouver is selected as one of the great cities in which many people want to live. Japan should follow Vancouver's example. The number of the young generation and labor force has been dropping in Japan. So we increasingly need to accept immigration from other countries more seriously. Therefore we need to provide a comfortable environment in which people with a wide range of backgrounds can live. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#Englishtalk

About new idea to increase followers on Instagram
▼スクリプト "I'd like to talk about new ideas that I came up with to increase the number of followers on the fitness service's Instagram account. As I mentioned before, I'm having trouble raising followers since this summer began in July. So I'm going to take up creating content from a new perspective. The focus will be on introducing a training menu with key points for exercise and supplements so that customers can work out even at home. What I'm thinking about is a video which consists of 3 sec of introduction, 10 sec of explaining key points, and 2sec of offering a free trial. This plan just clicked in my mind when I was looking around the content that we have posted previously and other content that competitors created. I feel customers tend to prefer informative content. For instance, how to take supplements of protein after training or training menus that you can use to exercise at home. And also, I'd say that kind of content can fit with Tiktok well. Our programs have unique training menus, so I expect we can reach out to as many new followers as possible using our strong points. Also, I think existing customers would enjoy that content because I haven't ever posted such content before. I'm going to take videos for that tomorrow. I think the point is how we make it concise in 15 sec because many followers check social media in their spare time. I'm going to take various patterns of videos and get on with them to release them next week. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk

About what happened to me the other day
▼スクリプト "Today, I'd like to talk casually about what has happened to me recently. I grabbed lunch with one of my workmates the other day. We often chat during working hours, but it was the first time we had an opportunity to speak outside the restaurant. I was happy to get to know him through casual conversation. I had fish and chips, but the taste was average because the chips were getting cold and a little moist from the grease. Also, as for the fish, the crust was lumpy, but the part of the fish was small and felt heavy with grease. But, the coleslaw accompaniment was delicious, it was a perfect fit with the fish. My friend is open-minded and he likes teaching English. I can ask him without hesitation about how to say things in English. I can also ask him to repeat what he says if I don't catch it. During talking with him, I found myself using a lot of sentences that I have practiced in the speech training. Sometimes I used the same sentences I practiced in my earlier speech, and sometimes I apply the structure of grammar to what I want to say according to the flow of the conversation. This is what I seek. But, looking back on my sentences, most of them tend to be from the speeches numbers 1 to 20. So I'm not using much of the vocabulary, expressions and grammar from speeches numbers 21 to 35. But I don't take this negatively because I've been able to turn the phrases in previous speeches since two months ago into my daily speech without forgetting. So I will place the full weight of my effort on the recent speech this week. The recent speech has more words than the previous one. So it's harder to take in the whole sentences completely, but they include more variety of new phrases and grammar that I don't have a good command of. I'd like to practice them, so they sink in #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk

About how I keep healthy
I’m going to talk about how I keep healthy. I have started taking Vitamin C supplements to avoid getting heat stroke because I have not been consuming vegetables or fruits recently. By consuming supplements with missing ingredients, I'm trying not to exacerbate (worsen / aggravate) my tiredness and summer fatigue. When I was in Japan, I didn't do that for my health. But because I don't want to spend unnecessary expenses on seeing a doctor and I can't be bothered to go to the hospital, I've started to take staying healthy seriously in my mind, since I came to Canada. So, I take supplements both in the morning and just before going to bed. Also, When I was in Japan this is how I used to stay healthy. If there was something wrong with my body or I felt even a little tired, I took medicine for cold and drank a lot of water before it became unmanageable. By doing that, I would minimize symptoms before they negatively affected my life. Thanks to that regime, I never took a sick day from work, I think the point is to take health maintenance steps in advance. To do that, you need to understand the cycle of your body. I'd say when people feel tired, they come down with symptoms such as fever, stomatitis, and headache. As for me, I often get headaches whenever I'm exhausted. I think it's essential to take enough rest and not to put yourself through too much at such a time. Also, by taking supplements, medicine, or sufficient water, you can accelerate the speed of recovery. I'd say that those who have played sports might be adept at adjusting their physical conditions because they need to care for them to maintain high performance. Another hectic weekend is coming up. While working, I can get over it because I get my adrenaline pumping. But after that, the tiredness could turn into symptoms of a cold, I will cover all the bases. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk

About what I've learned from this method of making a speech
I'll let you know how I've been working on making speeches because I've created more than 30 speeches so far. Basically, I work on these steps. Firstly, I make a speech in the daytime, then I practice it enough to speak around 60% of it from memory, then I have you or another teacher correct it, and then I practice to the point where I can speak without reading. That is all the learning tasks I’m sure to do on a daily basis. After that, I practice them on a regular basis to make them stick. I will do this in the same way for 50 speeches. After that, I'm wondering if I will keep doing it that way or if I will work on expanding my vocabulary by replacing words and expressions in my existing speeches with different ones. I'm going to talk about what I learned from this method. The most significant benefit of this method is that I can grow my vocabulary and grammar that I use in daily conversation instead of just knowing them. That's just what I've sought. Honestly, it's completely different between when I practice English by myself and when I talk with native English speakers firsthand. In my opinion about it, I'd say the quality of the sentence you have practiced drops down by about 30% in real conversation because you get nervous or you get a response that you don't expect. So, I think I need to enhance the quality enough to make it close to 100% during practice by myself. I define 100% quality as being able to use the words unconsciously. To achieve the goal, I need to go through steps where I can have someone correct and practice over and over. This method is a perfect fit for me. Secondly, I can choose a topic that I need. All topics are about myself or my impressions. Because I make speeches while expecting expressions I would use at a restaurant or when I talk with my friends, they can be versatile and take effect at once from this attempt. Also, this training can be an opportunity to look back at what I couldn't express well such as in daily conversations or in 5min discussions at Native camp. Thirdly, I can figure out my mistakes grammatically or from the perspective of appropriate vocabulary. For example, in yesterday's speech, I wrote, "" I worked at the restaurant for 18 hours the last weekend"" at first. But you corrected it to ""I worked at the restaurant for 18 hours over the last weekend"". I had no idea that I should have put ""over"" in this sentence when I was making that speech. But by putting ""over"" in this sentence, it made the sentence more vivid. Adding to my vocabulary in this way is more relevant and informative by building up knowledge of such prepositions in actual use. The ideal next level I'm thinking about so far is that I can expand my vocabulary and grammar while using and switching expressions or appropriate structures that I have used in speeches previously. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk

About the firework show in Vancouver
▼スクリプト "I'd like to talk about the reason why I'm burned out today. I worked at the restaurant for 18 hours over the last weekend because the busiest season of the year started. My legs are fatigued because I was basically on my feet all day. On Saturday, there was a firework show for the first time in two years due to Covid19, and the street in front of our restaurant to the main beach was packed with people, I felt like I hadn't seen such a crowd of people for a while. So, many people flocked to the restaurant before the fireworks, they subsequently left the restaurant to see the fireworks, and after that, more and more people came to the restaurant to have parties. It was super busy, but we had more floor staff for that. So I felt like time flew by, and I enjoyed it, and above all, I was happy that I could contribute to the restaurant in some small way. The Pride festival and fireworks are going to be held next weekend. I want to recover my tiredness totally for those big events. Also, I learned a lot of English from my work colleagues this weekend. Some of my work colleagues are International students like myself, but lately, a new person who is from Canada joined us. He always teaches me kindly. It means a lot to me because I can ask him for suitable phrases according to the situation at the restaurant. Since sometimes I'm not busy at certain times of the day, I want to talk to him proactively. He is in charge of guiding new customers to tables. So when I have time, I'm going to check how he guides new customers in English. My aim of working at a restaurant has been not only to earn money but also I've been getting exposed to real conversations in English for stepping my game up to the point where I can use English without stress. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk

About what I've been doing to improve the number of followers.
▼スクリプト "Let me talk about what I've been doing lately to improve the number of new followers on the fitness service's Instagram account. I used to follow new people who just followed other training gyms or restaurants around the park where we hold our sessions. But. Lately, I have started targetting new customers who post their content with their location information. This means I'm following new customers who have been to a park or restaurant these days which is close to the park where we hold sessions by researching location information first. The benefit of this new method is that I can save trouble looking up to see if they are living in Vancouver. It has been a lot of trouble to handle opening their accounts and checking their profiles before following them in the old method. But now, I don't have to. They are likely to live in Vancouver because they have just hung out in these areas. So I can cut down on the waste of time checking and capture more followers who can be potential prospects. The second point I'm aware of is targetting people who have been to local spots instead of popular spots. This is because people who have been to popular spots can be tourists from other cities or other countries. My aim has been not only to increase the number of followers but also I've been trying to get more potential customers who are living in Vancouver. Thirdly, I'm trying to raise engagement. I'm liking or giving their posts a comment every day. In my opinion about business accounts on Instagram, most companies are not proactive. They often only react to customers' posts by replying to customer comments. That's just one-sided. So, I thought we would give a good impression to customers by responding to their posts. Actually, we have improved the rate of responses after posting our content, and some new followers follow us through that engagement. Even if new customers don't want to work out for a while, by keeping them and posting the contents about us, we can offer an opportunity in which customers can sign up for our session easily when they get curious about our service. It's been fantastic weather in Vancouver these last few months, so it's more likely that people come to want to work up a good sweat, I think it's essential that our service is one of their choices and that we live up to their expectations #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#Englishtalk

About Keisuke Honda
I'd like to talk about Keisuke Honda, who is a professional soccer player, director of the Cambodia national team, and business person. As I mentioned, he has a lot of titles and runs many companies and soccer schools all over the world. I'm not sure which is his main occupation. But I think the volume of what he's been doing represents his outstanding achievements. Needless to say, he led Japan's national team for a long time, and he used to play soccer for AC Milan, putting on number 10. It's very clear that he must be a legendary soccer player for the Japanese. Of course, he was the first Japanese player to put on number ten for a big team with a long history as good as AC Milan. Now, he is running his businesses worldwide while looking for the next club where he can bring the best out of himself. Even though he is over the hill as a soccer player, he is always trying to do something new. But some Japanese people who have old-fashioned ideas criticize him and say he should concentrate on playing soccer and not mixing it with business. Also, some don't like what he's been doing because his activity and behavior always stand out. But he has been persisting in his belief, and he has gone through some adversity. I have a lot of things that I want to say about him, but one of the reasons why I'm a big fan of him is that he is not afraid of making mistakes at all and owning up to them. When he signed with AC Milan, a press conference was held and broadcast worldwide. I know it's not my place, but you couldn't say he can be fluent in English, even with flattery. But he talked about himself in English in his words without an interpreter back then. After that, he has been doing his activity using English. He has even posted videos in which he has practiced English on Youtube. I find him an authentic professional because he has been facing up to his weaknesses while swallowing his pride and keeping plugging away. Generally speaking, it gets harder to accept your mistakes as you grow older. I agree with that, especially in Japan, people tend to care about how it would look, I've seen many people who are older than me try to cover up their mistakes and make it look better. So even though I'm growing older, I hope to be honest with myself like him. #englishspeaking#Englishlanner#Englishspeech#englishtalk
