Gingham Rayon Pants | Sewing Rumi Pants + Rayon vs Linen Comparison
In this video, I’m making the Rumi Pants in a lightweight gingham rayon and comparing them with the gingham linen version I made previously. Watch the gingham linen version here: https://youtu.be/u4AT-_LwW6k The pattern is exactly the same, but the two fabrics create a very different silhouette and feel. Rayon is soft, fluid and lightweight, while linen has more structure and volume. I also found the rayon more challenging to cut and pattern match because the fabric shifts so easily. Rumi Pants by Style Arc | Gingham Linen | Full Sewing Process
I made the Style Arc Rumi Pants using 100% linen gingham. In this video, I’m sharing the sewing process from cutting to the finished pants, including how I matched the gingham checks when cutting and sewing. Linen was lovely to work with — easy to cut, easy to press, and the structure made the gingham easier to match. After wearing the finished pants, I also noticed how the linen affects the silhouette and movement. For this pair, I changed the original hem finish and used a wide double-fold hem instead. Make it. Athina Top by Tessuti | Linen Rayon Blend | Fabric Review
Hi, I'm Fumi. I used to sew professionally and have over 30 years of sewing experience. In this video, I review the Athina Top by Tessuti Patterns made in cotton linen. This is my third Athina Top, following versions in 100% linen and a linen-rayon blend. Although the pattern is exactly the same, the cotton linen creates a much crisper structure and a completely different silhouette. At the end of this video, I compare all three versions side by side so you can clearly see how fabric choice changes the finished garment. After making my first Athina Top in 100% linen (Size M), I wanted to try a different fabric and a smaller size. This time I chose Size S, and I also show the complete neckline binding process in detail. The linen-rayon blend creates a beautiful soft drape, although I found it wrinkles more easily than crisp linen. Hi, I’m Fumi. I used to make trousers professionally and have been sewing for over 30 years. In this video, I sew the Hilary Top by Tessuti using a white embroidered cotton fabric. This fabric has a beautiful structure with delicate embroidery, but it is thicker than it looks and requires careful handling during construction. Especially when working with seams and facings, controlling the bulk is important to achieve a clean finish. In this project, I walk through the full sewing process, focusing on how to manage fabric thickness and maintain neat construction throughout. You’ll see key techniques such as: stabilizing and finishing thicker seams managing gathers and peplum construction handling facings and preventing them from showing refining the garment after initial assembly (reworking for a cleaner finish) This garment also required a small rework after construction, where I adjusted the facing to improve the final appearance.
