2025年12月30日（火） 今年も残り2日 Tuesday, December 30, 2025 Only two days left in the year. 12月20日まで休みに入ったMOTTI、サーフィンの師匠でもあるご近所友達の姫と、ハウスメイトのKINGの恒例（？）日の出サーフィンに同行させてもらうことに。 MOTTI has been on holiday since December 20, and today she got to go along on the sunrise surf session with my neighbour and surfing mentor-PRINCESS, and MOTTI's housemate KING. 寝るの大好きMOTTIがサーフィンのために3時起きするなんて！奇跡 MOTTI, who absolutely loves sleeping, waking up at 3 a.m. just to go surfing?! A miracle. 4時過ぎ、BURLEIGH HEADS到着。 日の出サーフィンっていうか、まだ真っ暗じゃん！ なのに、暗闇の中でサーフィンしている輩が一人や二人じゃない！ We arrived at Burleigh Heads just after 4 a.m. Sunrise surfing? It was still pitch dark! And yet—there weren’t just one or two people, but several surfers already out there in the darkness. 「あの人たちアホかぁ！？」なんて心の中で思っていたら、 KINGは颯爽とWETを着て準備完了。 I was thinking to myself, “Are those people crazy or what?!” Meanwhile, KING had already slipped into his wetsuit and was fully ready to go. 入水の様子を密着してみた・・・。 （すぐに駐車場に戻るつもりでいたので、車の鍵をもってきてもーた） I decided to closely follow his entry into the water… (Thinking I’d head back to the car soon, I’d brought the car key with me—oops.) せっかくならば、KINGの勇姿を撮影しようとねばったけれど、 鍵がないと姫は動けない・・・ I wanted to stick around and capture KING’s brave moment, but without the key, PRINCESS couldn’t go anywhere. 車に戻ると、あれれ！姫もWET着て準備完了。 「待ってるから一緒に入ろう」と誘われるが・・・。 When MOTTI returned to the car "what?" PRINCESS was already in her wetsuit and completely ready. “I’ll wait for you—let’s go in together,” she said. 岩場からの入水は「むーりー！」 ということで、姫の密着取材開始。 But… Entering from the rocks? “No waaaay!” So instead, I started a close-up shooting video on PRINCESS. 見ている分には気持ちよさそうなサーフィン。 根性根性ど根性です！ 姫のガッツをご覧あれ。 Watching from the shore, the surfing looked amazing—so refreshing. Surfing Motti ゴールドコースト メインビーチサーフィン
2026年1月22日（木） 22/Jan/2026(Thu) 風邪もようやく治り、この日は平日だ！今日もHimeと一緒にサーフィンへ。 Motti's cold has finally cleared up, and it’s a weekday day off—so of course, heading out for a surf with Hime SurflineではThe Spitは1-3ft 黄緑。 家を出る前にカメラで見ると、数名のサーファー。波はよくないけれど、これから潮が上げてくれば、まとまってくるのでは？と期待をもって自宅を出発。 According to Surfline, The Spit was showing 1–3 ft (light-green). Before leaving home, we checked the live cam: only a few surfers out. The waves didn’t look great, but with the tide coming in, we hoped they might clean up a bit. With that small hope, we headed out. まずはThe Spitチェック。 「がっびーん！」なんだこの波は・・・。 残念すぎる。 First stop: The Spit check. …Boom. What on earth are these waves? Way too disappointing. Motti は、年末年始と楽しいサーフィンができておらず、さらには風邪をひいたり、仕事があったりで10日ぶりの海。Surflineの黄緑に期待を持ちすぎた・・・。 Motti hasn’t had a fun surf since the end of last year, and on top of that, she'd been sick and busy with work—this was her first time back in the ocean in 10 days. She’d put way too much hope into that Surfline light-green rating. フラストレーションはさらに積もる。 Frustration level rising. とりあえず、近場のメインビーチへ移動。 メインビーチはSurflineでは2-3fの黄緑 So we moved to Main Beach, close by. Surfline showed 2–3 ft (light-green) here. やっぱりMottiにはでかすぎる オープンビーチで白波が途切れるところはなく 絶対にアウトにでられないこと確定（笑） スープも白波一直線 病み上がりのMOTTIには試練以外の何物でもないこと確定（笑） Still… way too big for Motti. Open beach, no breaks in the whitewater, zero chance of getting out the back. Just endless straight-line soup. Definitely no challenge for someone just recovering from a cold! HIMEの「よしここで入るか！」の掛け声で、 車に支度に向かうが、気が重い・・・。 Then Hime said, “Alright, let’s get in here!” I headed back to the car to get ready, but honestly… my heart wasn’t in it. 今日は木曜日。ここで無理して体力使い、風邪が悪化するよりは・・・。 「HIME、今日私は入るのやめとくよ・・・」 It’s Thursday. If she pushes too hard and make her cold worse, that wouldn’t be smart. So Motit said, “Hime… I think I’ll sit this one out today.” HIMEのレスポンス「えーーーーーーーーー！」 予想以上に大きかった・・・（笑） Hime’s response: “WHAAAAAT?!” Way bigger reaction than expected でも今の自分のコンディションを伝えるとHIMEも納得。 ということで今日は木陰でWATCHING。 After Motti explained her condition, Hime understood. So today, Motti became the shade-watching cameraman. 入水時に、海からあがってきたおじさんに入水ポイントを教えてもらったHIME. Just before paddling out, a local surfer coming in kindly showed Hime the best entry point. 水に入るとリップカレントに見事にのって、あれよ、あれよと水をかぶることなくゲットアウト！ブラボー！HIME Once in the water, Hime caught a perfect rip current and got out effortlessly without taking a single wave on the head. Bravo, Hime! しかしアウトに出たあたりでは、北に流れがあるらしく、ポジションキープが難しそう Out the back, though, there seemed to be a strong northward sweep, making it hard to hold position. そんな中でHIME テイクオフ！ あいにくボトムで白波に潰されてしまったけど、頭サイズの波をきれいに捉えていました！ブラボー！ブラボー！ Even so—Hime takes off! Unfortunately, the wave closed out at the bottom turn, but Hime caught a clean head-high wave. Bravo! Bravo! そして・そして・・。 家に帰ろうと準備をしているHIMEが、「Motti、波が大分落ち着いてきたから入ったら？」と声をかけてくれた。 And then… just as Hime was getting ready to head home, she said: “Motti, the waves have really settled down. Why don’t you go in?” たしかに、潮が満ちてきて波も少し小さくなり、白波にも切間が・・・。 ワンチャン出れるかも？ She was right. The tide had filled in, the waves were smaller, and there were gaps in the whitewater. Maybe… just maybe… I could get out. ということでウェットを着て、入水。 先ほどまで１０人ぐらいいたサーファーたちもポツンポツン。 オープンウォーターで一人で入るのは怖いMottiだが HIMEがビーチで見守ってくれているという安心感で 思い切って入水 So she suited up and paddled out. The lineup that had earlier been packed with about 10 surfers was now scattered. Motti is honestly scared surfing alone in open water—but knowing Hime was watching from the beach gave her confidence. 一本目（動画なし）、するりと出られて、するりと乗れた First wave (no video): Slipped out smoothly, slipped into a wave smoothly. 二本目（動画あり）、ダックダイブができないので、乗ってしまえーとショートライド Second wave (on video): Motti can't duck dive, so I thought, “Just go!”—short ride. 三本目（動画あり）、これまたダックダイブができないので、これに乗るぞ！とパドルを頑張り、いざポップアップ。 おー、えー感じ。 板を操れている感覚あり！ Third wave (on video): Again, avoid duck dive, but she committed. Hard paddle, pop-up… Oh! This feels good. Motti actually feel like she is controlling the board! 入水時間30分。 満足したところで、やめておこっと。 Total water time: 30 minutes. Satisfied—and calling it a day. HIME曰く、「最後の、ボトムターンしたじゃーん」 Hime said, “You did a bottom turn on that last one!” 「やっぱり！？だよねーー！？」 Motti: “Right?! she thought so too!” その様子をHIMEがビデオに収めてくれていたので、観てみたら。。。 「しょぼ！」笑 When we watched the video later… “Meh…”（笑） でもでも、体の感覚としては、「ボトムターンしてそのあと何ならカットバック決めた」ライディング But in my body, it felt like: A bottom turn… and maybe even a cutback! 結果、年末からのフラストレーションは解消され、人生初のテクニカルサーフィンでした！（笑） In the end, all the frustration that had built up since the end of last year was finally gone. It was—without a doubt—my first ever ‘technical’ surf session (LOL）

2025 ゴールドコースト SUPER CAR RACE 耳痒くなりました
2025年10月27日（日）ゴールドコーストに住んで早ん？x10年のMotti この度初めてゴールドコーストの街中で毎年この時期行われているカーレースを見に行ってきました。 正直何が走っているのか、どの車が先頭なのか、全くわからず・・・ではありましたが、いろいろなお店やブースがでていて、楽しかったです。 そして何よりの初体験。目の前を走り抜けるSUPER CARの爆音と風で耳が痒くなりました。 チケット代は日本でモータースポーツレースを観にいくことを考えたら、そこまで高くないのかもしれないけれど・・・。 今までチケット買ってまで観に来ようとは思わなかったレース。 今回は3日の通しチケットをもっている友達夫妻（←いつも太っ腹）が、日曜日は用事があって見に行けないので・・・・とチケットを譲っていただきました。 W&Mちゃんありがとう！ おかげてレースとレース会場1日満喫しました。

Beach Life Paradise！冬のゴールドコーストの週末 Surfing & BBQ （Dbah, Snapper Rocks＆Kirra Beach)
2025年7月最後の日曜日。お友達に誘われて、サーファー仲間で集うBBQ！ オーストラリアは現在冬です。 BBQはKirra Beachということで、その日は、Live Camera アプリ（Surfline)もノーチェックのまま、D-Bah（Duranbah)に。 他のスポットでは波がよくなくても、たいていはD-BahはOK! しかし、この日D-Bahの波残念なコンディション。 ここで家から一番近いThe Spit（のライブカメラを見るとなんともいい感じ！！ しかし、この日のBBQはKirra Beach。 さすがに、The Spitまで戻るにはあまりに時間とガソリン代のロス。 ということでSnapper Rocksをチェック。 D-Bahよりはまとまりのある波。 結局お友達はSnapper Rocksで。 MottiはSnapper Rocksの岩が怖くて、浜繋がりのRainbow Bayへ。 この午前中のサーフィンは結局イマイチ。 しかし、その後のBBQでは、初めて会う若きサーファーちゃんや、BBQを主催してくださったご家族など、いろんな方に会えて、いろんな話を聞くことが、そして美味しいBBQ。 楽しい週末になりました。 BBQのあとは朝日とはちがったやわらかい夕日の中でD-BAHでサーフィン。 久しぶりの夕方のサーフィン！めちゃ楽しかったぁー。 ＜参考までに＞ Motti（動画内二人で映っている写真の左）のウェットスーツは３−４MM 寒がりのお友達（右）のウェットスーツは２−３MM つい最近までお友達のフルスーツも３−４MMだと思っておりました・・。 ３−４MMは最強です。 1時間ぐらい海に入っていても、寒いと感じることはなく、 曇りや風のある日は、あがった時に、さむーーーいと思う程度。 Motti のFull Suits（３−４MM) 2024年8月に購入！ RIPCURLのOUTLETで購入で購入 ＄２１５でした！ Outletの住所は↓ 2 Pappas Way W, Nerang QLD 4211 Enjoy Surfing!
