Joshua 6:12-27: Joshua and Jericho
The first five chapters of the book of Joshua are about Israel entering the land. Chapters six through twelve are about Israel receiving the land. Some refer to that as their conquering the land, but the book of Joshua and Israel’s entire history is about their receiving the land. They don’t conquer anything without God having given it to them first. I think the most important thing we can keep in mind is what Paul said, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) We have to keep in mind that the goal of demons is your destruction, and because of that, Paul tells the believers to take up the whole armor of God. The story of Jericho and the rest of Canaan is a heavy-duty spiritual war. There is physical battle for sure, but that’s only the manifestation of the spiritual war that’s going on. John said, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4) A study of Joshua 6 12-27 based on “Explore the Bible: Summer 2026” from Lifeway. Challenges & Joys: Spiritual Maturity
Spiritual maturity involves both challenges and joys. It requires pruning, abiding in Christ, and obedience to God's commands. Pruning removes hindrances, abiding sustains spiritual vitality, and obedience deepens our relationship with God. Ultimately, spiritual maturity anchors us in lasting joy, not based on circumstances but on our relationship with Christ.

Challenges & Joys: Suffering is a Seed | John Wethington
Life often brings unanswered prayers and unexpected suffering that can shake our faith. Joseph's journey from favored son to slave demonstrates that we can remain faithful to God even in our hardest moments. Suffering isn't meaningless - it produces sanctification, reveals God's providence, and creates purpose in our lives. When we bring our pain to God instead of running from Him, He transforms our struggles into tools for blessing others. Christianity offers a unique hope: a God who entered into suffering Himself through Jesus Christ. Our deepest pain can become our greatest ministry when surrendered to God's purposes.

Selena’s Story | From Deep Wounds to Hope
Sexual abuse leaves deep wounds that challenge faith and self-worth, but healing is possible through God's love and supportive community. One survivor's journey from childhood trauma to faith restoration shows how breaking through denial, finding safe people to share with, and replacing lies with God's truth can lead to recovery. Though the healing process takes time and involves wrestling with difficult questions about God's protection, survivors can learn to trust again and walk in their true identity as beloved children of God.

Forgiveness
Retaliation feels like victory, but it's actually poison that you're drinking yourself. True freedom comes through forgiveness - even when you forgive yourself. #Forgiveness #Freedom #ChristianWisdom #Faith #Healing #SelfForgiveness #ChurchCommunity #Jesus #Grace #Liberation

Pasaje: Daniel 4 Predicador: Enrique “Kike” Puig

Joshua 3:14-19; 4:1-10 Crossing the Jordan River
The crossing of the Jordan River is the most significant event in the book of Joshua, and one of the most in the Bible. It symbolizes God’s plan of redemption for the world, and nothing is more important to believers in Jesus than what it represents. As we read these two chapters, you can feel the excitement, anticipation, and expectation of the people. It’s a familiar story, so we’ll try to approach it with fresh eyes and ask the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of our hearts. A study of Joshua 3 14-19; 4:1-10 based on “Explore the Bible: Summer 2026” from Lifeway. This is the third lesson from Joshua prepared by Gary Stieber for Houston's First Baptist Church.
